"Ban all fulani herdsmen activities in yoruba land" Afenifere said
Following the kidnap of former presidential candidate Olu Falae by suspected fulani herdsmen in Ondo state last week Monday, leaders of Pan Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, have called for a ban to be placed on the activities of Fulani herdsmen in Yoruba land.
The group also condemned the kidnapping of the 77 year old elder statesman. They made their position known after an emergency meeting in Akure, Ondo state yesterday September 28th. Speaking through its Spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, the group said;
"We believe now that after what has happened to chief Falae, people would not tolerate such thing in any part of Yoruba land . So while we await the arrest of the criminals, the cattle rearing should be stop in Yoruba land. Yoruba people go to any part of the country to trade,no history or record of such anywhere that the Yorubas destroy the business of their host. What we cannot do to others, nobody should do it to us. We describe this as scandalous and chilling that the harrowing experience of the 77 year old man in the hands of vandals, miscreants. The Meeting did not considers it as a mere coincidence that chief Olu Falae for two to three years has been having running battles with the Fulani herdsmen on the very farm before he was abducted. Last of such was about two months earlier when they enter his farmland and destroyed it and chief Falae pursue the matter with the police and grudgingly accepted half of what the police said they should pay as compensation. The fulani elements coming to abduct him two months latter, is presumably a vengeance mission for justice that he pursued against the invasion of his farm and the destruction of his hand work. The meeting recalled that for years, farmers in Yoruba land has been expressing what chief Falae was going through in the hands of this nomadic cattle rearers. You will recalled that in year 2000 in Oke Ogun area of Oyo state, the fulani herdsmen and farmers had a major clash which led to a strong delegation from Arewa consultative forum to storm the office of the office of the then Governor Lam Adesina in a rowdy and angry manner on behalf of fulani . The meeting also noted that the 2014 national conference in which chief Falae led the Yoruba delegation ,extensively discuss this matter of nomadic cattle rearing and the conference resolved the it should be stopped and instead have ranches for cattle business. We condemned the abduction of Chief olu Falae and his gruesome experience as shameful, insensitive and a violent violation of Yoruba culture, values and space".

why I marry 18 year old adamawa princess - Emir of kano
Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II has responded to criticisms following his marriage to 18 year old Sa'adatu Barkindo-Musdafa last week. In a private email sent to select people which has leaked to many social media platforms, he explained why he decided to marry Sa'adatu. Read below
"I am sure NC members all have their views and have kept quiet out of (appropriate) deference to our right to make our individual choice. Obviously I do not need to explain anything to anyone in a purely personal matter but a few points are worthy of note:
1. The lady in question is 18 and thererfore legally of age to marry under all laws and certainly inder Muslim law
2. She is proceeding for her undergraduate education in the UK in january. She had an A in computer science in her O levels and plans to get a degree in computer science
3 each and everyone of my wives is a university graduate and some have worked and fhen stopped and in each case the choice was purely theirs
4. It is a tradition in Kano that emirs and princes in choosing wives consider issues beyond the individual. The family is in every sense a social unit. My predecessor was married to princesses from Ilorin, Katsina and Somoto
5 The relationship between the late Lamido of Adamawa Aliyu Musdafa the father of the current Lamido is well known. Lamido Aliyu was the first emir turbanned after emir Sanusi I and they remained close until Sanusi’s death.
6. My own relationship with the current Lamido dates back to 1981 when he was Ciroma and commissioner for works. By the way the Lamido and I are not illiterates we know what we are doing and he does have a PhD in Engineering
7. My own mother was married in Adamawa and lived there for more than two decades and I have eight younger brothers and sisters from there
8 it is therefore natural that if I choose to marry from another kingdom Adamawa would be the first choice for me and I am extremely happy to strengthen these ling historical bonds
9. The young lady in question gave her free consent and even after the contract the wedding will not happen for a few years. By then she may be 21. If she freely consents to this I do not know on what moral grounds anyone has a grouse. She is an adult, she gave her consent, her education is not being in anyway interrupted.
10. The real issue is that people do not accept cultural difference. And you can see it in the approach to these issues. I am supposed to be urbane and western educated. Yes but i am not european. I am a northern Nigerian Fulani Muslim brought up in a setting exactly like the one my children are being brought up in.
If you read this and it improves your understanding of this issue that is fine. If it does not justvremember it us not your life, it is not your daughter and you are not my wife therefore it is not your business.
I obviously cannot stoop to the level of responding publicly to these kinds of articles. I have always been an advocate of girls marrying after maturing. I personally like the minimum age of 18 even though i understand those who say 16 is fine and indeed this is the law in most so calked @advanced@ countries.
Is this something that I expect a european or western trained or feminist mind to appreciate or endorse? Not at all. But has any american been bothered about my views on men marrying men or women marrying women which frankly I find primitive and bestial? No and my views do not matter. These are cultural issues.
Even in Nigeria I have heard all this stuff as in Pius article about “north” and northerners. Again it is a failure to respect difference. There are parts if this country where parents expect their daughters to live with their boyfriends for years and actually get pregnant before they marry. It has become culture. We do not have that in the north and if your daughter gets pregnant before marriage she brings nothing but shame to the name. But we do not issue condemnations. We agree that this is how they choose to live. And i can give many other examples.
When people use the term libido they do themselves injustice. First of all it shows how they view women and marriage. Women are nothing but the object of sexual desire. Marriage is nothing but sexual gratification. Well I am sorry but in my tradition it is not. Beauty and attraction rank third after religion and lineage in the choice of a wife. They see an 18 year old young lady. I see a princess of noble birth whose mother is also a princess, and who has been brought up in a good muslim home. This is the kind of woman that is prepared for hiving birth to princes and bringing them up for the role expected of them in society.
Martiage is both social and political. Expanding the links of kano which have already been established by my predecessors through inter marriage with katsina, sokoto, ilorin, katagum, ningi, bauchi etc to adamawa is an important and signifant step and this is obvious to anyone with a sense of how royal families work and Ibn Khaldun’s sociological concept of Asabiyyah. When the emir of Kano marries it has to be something beyond what he oersonally desires to what is appropriate for that position and the expectations of the people he represents. You dont just pick up any girl on the street. And by the way for thise who shout libido sex is cheap and available everywhere in all shapes and sizes and all colours if that is what they want. And all ages too. Martiage is a very different proposition. The mother of your children has to be something other than, ot at least much more than a mere object of sexual fantasy. But if you do not know that you need to buy yourself a brain.
I have daughters. And they know they can only marry from certain backgrounds. I always prefer family. When my daughter wanted to marry mouftah baba ahmed’s son and she asked me, knowing my views on family, i told her mouftah is family. And this is not about me and mouftah or me an hakeem or nafiu. No. It goes back to Baba Ahmed and Emirs Sanusi and Bayero. And the same rule applies to my sons. And it applied to me as well.
It is I am sure very strange that I should even bother to comment on this. But it would be hypocritical for me to just keep quiet so long as these things are being posted and commented upon explicitly or in a snide manner. There was no secrecy in the marriage fatiha. The date was fixed and it was to be done in the central mosque after friday prayers. The day before we had a tragedy in Saudi Arabia and decided the fatiha must be very low key as a mark of respect for the dead. All traditional rulers in adamawa were there, as were governors and commissioners, members of my own emirate council and adamawa people. There is nothing here to hide or be apologetic about.
The emirs of adamawa have shown love to my parents and grandparents and it is a sign of my appreciation of their love that i marry their daughter. This is the highest statement of friendship and loyalty on both sides.
Again if you understand this this is fine. If you do not buy yourself a brain, A la Pius.
In any event this is my one and final and only comment on this. And I am making it out of respect for NC members.”

Saudi paramedics favoured whites over africans in the hajj stampede
One of the survivors from the recent stampede in Saudi Arabia, an indigene of Osun State, resident in Warri, Delta State revealed that paramedics ignored African pilgrims and concentrated on rescuing white and Caucasian victims which resulted in a high casualty rate among Africans. He said he was stuck in the midst of dead bodies for more than two hours and there was no help from paramedics, who favoured whites over blacks.
"I tried to escape but it was impossible as I was stuck in the midst of many dead bodies and some people were climbing over me to find an escape. I struggled to get myself up to the waist level. From my toe to my waistline, people were all over and I could not get up. I was calling the Saudi police and paramedics on the scene to help me but they didn’t respond and I was stuck there for more than two hours as they were busy helping whites, with no response to my plea,"

Emir of kano secretly married 18 year old adamawa princess
the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, got married to his 4th wife, an 18 year old Adamawa princess.
"Emir of Kano just wedded Lamido Adamawa's daughter Sa'adatu. The Emir was absent but in attendance was the Wakili Kano and the governor of Kano. The wedding took place after juma'at prayers at the Lamido palace"
I didn't carry the story because there were no photos and I didn't have anyway of confirming it. But it looks like it may be true. A few online news sites have confirmed that the Emir indeed tied the knots with Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa, the daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo Musdafa, yesterday
According to Premium Times, the lady recently completed secondary school and is being enrolled for advanced level studies. The secret wedding fatiha held inside the palace of the Lamido minutes after the Jumma’at prayer. The emir only sent out invitation to some dignitaries across the country, and Kano government officials sneaked into Yola for the wedding fatiha to avoid journalists.

military accused borno state elite of working to scuttle the fight against B'haram
The Nigerian military has accused Borno state elites and political groups in the North East in general of working to undermine the efforts of the military in the fight against insurgency in that region. In a statement signed by Army spokesperson, Sani Usman, the military said such people are working to ensure the military's operation to end the insurgency fails because of certain benefits they are getting from the war. The statement reads;
"The Nigerian Army wishes to inform the public and send a very strong and serious final warning to some prominent individuals and political groups who hailed from Borno State in particular and North East generally, that there is information of plans by some highly placed individuals and political groups to undermine and scuttle the fight against terrorism and insurgency in this country. The unscrupulous individuals and their cohorts were determined to reverse the gains made and scuttle our efforts of achieving the Presidential directive to defeat Boko Haram terrorists within 3 months. They are enlisting the services of some Non-Governmental Organizations in this grand design. It has come to our knowledge that they were employing every means to see that the operation does not succeed in order for them to continue to enjoy certain benefits. It has been revealed that they are employing the services of marabouts and other unethical means in order to frustrate our efforts and the operations in addition to campaign of calumny. We are aware of their clandestine meetings and other diabolical efforts to achieve their nefarious aims. This would not be tolerated. Therefore, such individuals and groups should be warned in unmistakable terms that anyone found would be dealt with accordingly. People should place the interest of the nation above any personal gain or ambition. The continued lost of lives and property in this country through terrorists activities does not one any good,” the army spokesman said.

The continued lost of lives and property in this country through terrorists activities does not one any good,” the army spokesman said.
caitlyn jenner is now officially recognised as a woman
For those who thought she would wake up one day and say she had an epiphany and wants to go back being a man...well, it's done. Caitlyn's name and gender changes have been legally approved. It was approved today September 25th by the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. She's now to be known as Caitlyn Marie Jenner. But that doesn't mean she can use the ladies toilet...or does it?
Buhari expresses sadness over death in hajj stampede
Press statement from the presidency
President Muhammadu Buhari is deeply saddened by the colossal calamity which occurred yesterday in the Saudi Arabia, claiming the lives of hundreds of pilgrims, including some Nigerians. President Buhari believes that the stampede at Mina in which a notable Nigerian Journalist, Hajiya Bilkisu Yusuf, Prof. Tijjani El-Miskin and others lost their lives is a monumental tragedy, not only for citizens of the countries involved, but for the global Islamic community.
The President extends sincerest condolences to the families of the over 700 pilgrims who lost their lives in this latest disaster in the Holy Places which occurred less than two weeks after a crane collapse in Mecca claimed more than a hundred lives. President Buhari commiserates with the Nigerian Guild of Editors and the Nigerian Union of Journalists on the sad loss of Hajiya Bilkisu, an exemplary, dedicated, knowledgeable, very credible, highly-respected, outstanding editor and columnist who, even in death, will remain a glittering role model for journalists, within and outside Nigeria.
The President has taken note of the assurance by the Government of Saudi Arabia that Thursday's catastrophe will be investigated and urges King Salman to ensure a comprehensive and thorough exercise that will identify any flaws in Hajj organisation with a view to avoiding a recurrence of such tragedies during the annual pilgrimage.
In the knowledge that it is not within our powers to question the will of God, President Buhari prays that Almighty Allah will comfort the families who lost their beloved ones in the stampede and receive the souls of all those who died in the Holy Land while fulfilling the religious obligation of the Hajj. NNPC may sell refineries that don't meet the ultimatum on rehabilitation-GMD
The Group Managing Director of NNPC, Ibe Kachiukwu says there are plans by the oil corporation to sell off refineries that do not meet up the deadline for their rehabilitation. Kachiuwku made the disclosure while speaking to newsmen in Lagos recently
"By the end of December when the 90-day ultimatum will expire, any refinery that does not work optimally will be sold. I am determined to make a difference during my tenure. We are losing N2.2 trillion monthly to refinery inefficiency. As at today, the average refining performance is 30 per cent.
If by December, the refineries don’t work, I will export crude allocation and import refined petroleum products until we fix the refineries. Right now, the Port Harcourt refinery is showing signs that it will meet the December deadline. However, I am not saying Warri and Kaduna refineries will not meet the deadline, but I hope they all make it, so that we can continue to utilise our crude allocation to boost domestic refining.’’he said

Saudi arabia to behead and crusify young protester arrested when she was 17 years old
Saudi Arabia is to execute Ali Mohammed al-Nimr, a Shi’ite Muslim over his role in anti-government protests in 2012, despite protests that he was a minor when arrested. Activists say he could be beheaded and crucified as early as his week.
Ali Mohammed al-Nimr, the nephew of a prominient Shi’ite cleric was given the death penalty in May after taking part in demonstrations three years ago for democracy and equal rights in Saudi Arabia’s oil-producing Eastern Province as a 17-year-old high school student.
A court later convicted him of charges including belonging to a terror cell, attacking police , incitement and stoking sectarianism. His final appeal was rejected when the Appeals Court and High Court ratified his verdicts last week. Human rights groups, journalists and politicians have expressed outrage and taken to social media to call attention to the case.
According to CNN, a group of U.N. experts has joined rights groups in calling on Saudi Arabia to halt the execution. "Any judgement imposing the death penalty upon persons who were children at the time of their offense, and their execution, are incompatible with Saudi Arabia's international obligations," the U.N. group said in a statement on Tuesday, invoking the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, to which Saudi Arabia is a part of.
Yesterday France joined a growing international call to pardon al-Nimr. "France is concerned about the situation of Ali Mohammed al-Nimr, who was sentenced to death even though he was a minor at the time of the events," foreign ministry spokesman Romain Nadal said. "Opposed to the death penalty in all cases and circumstances, we call for the execution to be called off."
France statement came a day after United Nations rights experts called on Riyadh to halt Nimr’s “imminent execution” "Saudi Arabia’s plans to behead and crucify someone arrested as a child are indefensible,” said Donald Campbell, spokesman for international human rights charity Reprieve. "The international community –particularly Saudi Arabia’s close allies, the UK and the U.S. – must stand with the French government and U.N. experts against this outrage, and call on the Saudi authorities to put a halt to this unjustified killing."
The conviction of Nimr followed that of Rida al-Rubh, 26, the son of another cleric who has been critical of the authorities. The clerics are part of a group of around a dozen defendants on trial for their part in protests and violent unrest in Qatif, particularly in the village of Awamiya, where police officers and facilities have been attacked. Al-Nimr's parents are expected to visit him on Friday.
It will be the first time they have seen him since his appeal was denied. "Ali has always been an optimistic and outgoing person," a close family source said. "I feel helpless. I don't know. This is life in Saudi Arabia" he added.
Latest reports reveals that Ali made a short telephone contact with his family few hours ago.

Pastor Kumuyi urges Nigerians to shun clubbing, cultism and other negative social habit
The General Superintendent, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi has charged Nigerians to shun night clubs, cultism and other social vices. Kumuyi made the call while speaking on the topic “The Supernatural Beginning of a Better Future,” at the ongoing Lagos City-wide Crusade in Agege, Lagos.
According to P.M News, he urged Nigerians to root out the habit of night clubbing, cultism and other negative social pastimes from their lives and surrender to Jesus who has the power to break the negative habits from their lives.
"Every plant that has not been planted in your life shall be rooted out. You would have gone to school, but night club will not allow you; you would have earned money but roaming about will not allow you. The original plan and purpose of God for your life will be fulfilled. People could not get the original plan God has for them because there has been a derailment. Satan, the society and sin conspired to derail your life with the cooperation of self. Your destiny which has been in the hand of Satan, the society and sin will be taken back. All that Satan has planted in your life to make you miss God’s plan for you will be taken away tonight. A glorious beginning is starting in your life today. You must cooperate with God by rooting out those things. That place where you engage in occultic practices, drunkenness, sucking of blood, adultery, robbing and others is not a place of rest because they will destroy you. You must not remain in sin. Awake and put on a new strength. Rise up from that evil and come to the Saviour and something good will come to your life" he said.

2015 election: we have no regrats voting our choice--OHANEZE
While speaking yesterday in Abuja at a press conference to kick-start the 2015 Igbo Day celebration, president of the Ohaneze ndigbo group in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mazi Odozi Elijah Nwodozi, said the Igbos had no regret voting for their choice during the last election
“In the 2015 elections, Ndigbos made a clear choice; it was decisive. We made the best choice, as known to us. So, we have no regrets, whether or not we are being punished for that choice. We are in a democracy. The president is the president of all, irrespective of how any region voted.
This simply shows character, that if an Igbo man decides to support you, he does so no matter the consequence. That shows we are unwaivered. Ndigbos are strong people. We are like a phoenix; we always rise from our ashes. We cannot be broken as a people. We will surely get to the promised land,” he said.

Doctor sold one week old baby for 300K
The police in Lagos have arrested a trado-medical doctor ─ Olawale Onalaja ─ for allegedly selling a week-old baby to a couple for N300,000 in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the couple, Dele and Oluwakemi Ayangbile, who had also been arrested by the police, allegedly paid the sum to the native doctor before taking the baby to their apartment in the Mile 12 area.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the mother of the baby, 29-year-old Idiat Babatunde, was a student of a polytechnic in Osun State, and was preparing for her convocation when she was delivered of the baby on Saturday, September 5.
It was gathered that after the delivery, Idiat, who had a quarrel with her husband, Akinola Babatunde, had taken the baby to Onalaja, said to be a family friend, on September 13, and requested that he kept the child for her, while she travelled to school.
Our correspondent learnt that Onalaja, who lived in Ikola Odunsi Street in Iyana Ipaja, however, invited the Ayangbiles and sold the baby to them for N300,000.
It was learnt that when Idiat returned from school, Onalaja lied that the baby was in custody of a government-owned orphanage where he would be properly taken care of.
Our correspondent gathered that the buyers, the Ayangbiles, took the week-old baby to their rented apartment. But their suspicious landlord was said to have reported the matter at the Ketu Police Division after the baby had been with the couple for three days.
Our correspondent learnt that the police thereafter arrested the Ayangbiles, and also picked up Onalaja.
The wife, Oluwakemi, said she had been barren since 2009 when she got married, adding that Onalaja, who was a family friend, had earlier advised her to adopt a child.
She said, “I have known the traditional doctor since 2013. I got married in 2009 and I used to have miscarriages. It was while looking for treatment that I met him. In 2014, he advised that I should adopt a baby, but I did not agree.
“Two Mondays ago, he called me on the telephone and said I should meet him. He told me that he had a baby at hand to give us, adding that he would obtain all the necessary papers. I then discussed it with my husband and he said we should go for the baby since Onalaja was going to get the papers. He did not tell us that the baby’s mother was not aware of the transaction.
“I paid him N300,000, and brought the baby home. But after three days, the police came to arrest my husband and I. We have been barren for six years, and we need a child. We mean no harm to the baby.”
Onalaja, however, told our correspondent he collected only N156,000 from the couple, which was the sum to process papers from the government ministry in Alausa.
He said, “The agreement between the mother of the baby and I was that I would take the baby to an orphanage. The mother agreed to collect the baby back after three months in government’s custody.
“It is true that I collected N156,000 from Kemi and gave the baby to her. I wanted to take the baby to Alausa to register in an orphanage. But I was called on the telephone that the couple was arrested by the police. That was how I was also arrested. I do not sell babies. The mother is known to me.”
The mother of the baby, Idiat, said she had a quarrel with her husband, who was away in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and she gave the baby to Onalaja, so she could concentrate on her academics.
She said, “I had a quarrel with my husband, and so he was not at home when the baby was born.
“I gave the baby to Onalaja a week after while I went to school. It was when I returned that I realised that my baby had been sold. But I am happy to be reunited with him.”
A police source, however, told our correspondent that the mother of the baby knew about the sale of the baby.
The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the baby had been reunited with the parents, while the suspects would be charged to court.
The CP added that the command would not condone any act of criminalities in the state.
He said, “The couple, who were the beneficiaries of the baby, was arrested alongside the self-styled doctor. The police have recovered the baby and identified the parents.
“Although the baby has been returned to the mother, he is still under the watch of the Family Support Unit of the command.
“Investigation is almost concluded, and the suspects will appear in court soon.

sodiers capture boko haram kingpin, rescue 241 children and women
The war against terror received a major boost on Wednesday when Nigerian troops captured a member of the highest hierarchy of the Boko Haram group, Bulama Modu, along with 43 other members in Borno State.
Modu, a commander of the Amir cadre, which is the highest organ of the group, was captured when the troops destroyed Janguoriri and Bulatori Camps of the insurgents in northern Borno.
The acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, who confirmed the development, also said that women and children numbering 241 were rescued during the operation.
Usman said that the troops recovered some bows and arrows from Bulama who confessed that he also used a horse to carry out his murderous attacks on innocent people.
The Army spokesperson said that Boko Haram kingpins had resorted to burying their weapons in the sand, adding that some members of the group had abandoned their commanders in the heat of battle against the country’s Special Forces.
According to Usman, one terror suspect, Mohammed Modu, led the troops to a point where he buried his AK 47 rifle.
He said, “Please recall that yesterday, advancing troops along Banki axis made tremendous progress in which they cleared two Boko Haram terrorist camps at Jangurori and Bulatori villages.
“In addition to that, the troops have also arrested 43 suspected Boko Haram terrorists, including one of the Boko Haram kingpins in the area, Bulama Modu, who is an ‘Amir’ of Bulakuri. The troops also rescued 241 women and children during the operation.
“To further confirm what was said earlier about the terrorists abandoning their commanders and burying weapons, one Mohammed Modu led troops to where he buried his AK-47 rifle at Jangurori village.
“Apart from arms and ammunition, bows and arrows recovered from Bulama Modu, the kingpin, he confirmed that the terrorists also gave him a horse to enhance his deadly pursuits.”
Usman said that the troops also arrested one Aji Gambo at Wudla village who disclosed that the terrorists who attacked northern Cameroun were from Dara Jamel in Nigeria, where the insurgents had an Improvised Explosive Device factory.
Gambo was said to have told the troops that the IEDs used for the attack on northern Cameroun were prepared by the trio of Abdulrahaman Alkali, Ba’ana Hisuba and Alkali Isa Karami, all natives of Dara Jamel.
He added that the suspected insurgents had fled Dara Jamel for Sumbulun village.
Usman said that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant Gen. Tukur Buratai, who had been monitoring the progress made in the campaign, commended the soldiers for their impressive performance.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that the days of Boko Haram insurgency are numbered.
He stated that the sect’s reign of terror in parts of the country would be over very soon, stressing that the ongoing military onslaught against the deadly sect would continue until total victory is achieved.
Buhari, in a statement by his Special Senior Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba, on Wednesday, said he had directed the Armed Forces and other security agencies to provide maximum security across the nation during the Eid-el-Kabir prayers and celebrations, especially in areas most vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
The statement said, “President Buhari assures all Nigerians that the days of Boko Haram are numbered. Boko Haram’s reign of terror in parts of the country will be finally over very soon as the ongoing military onslaught against the terrorist sect will continue relentlessly until total victory is achieved.”
The President, who felicitated with all Nigerian Muslims as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, also congratulated all Nigerian pilgrims currently in Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj.
In particular, Buhari urged Nigerian Muslims to rededicate themselves and imbibe the lessons of piety, faithfulness, dedication, fortitude, obedience, sacrifice and selfless service which he said were for the benefit of all mankind.
“The President called for more patience, fortitude, tolerance, endurance, patriotism and a greater willingness to make personal sacrifices for the good of all as his administration strives to lead the nation towards rapidly overcoming insecurity, economic and developmental challenges,” the statement added.
Buhari assured all Nigerians that their safety, wellbeing and progress remained uppermost in his thoughts and actions, promising to continue to work with all his might to deliver positive changes in national life.
The President extended heartfelt commiserations to families in North-East Nigeria who had lost relatives in recent terrorist attacks.

HID's death forced me out of hiding-JONATHAN
Former President Goodluck Jonathan was among the dignitaries who visited the Ikenne country home of the Awolowos to pay tributes to their matriarch, Hannah Idowu Dideolu, who passed on last Saturday.
He arrived the Ikenne home of the Awolowos at exactly 1.17pm in company with his wife, Patience, and a former leader in the House of Representatives, Mrs. Mulikat Adeola, and a former chairman of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, Jide Adeniji.
Jonathan said the death of HID Awolowo forced him and his wife out of their ‘hiding’ place, since he said he had resolved not to go out for one year, after leaving office.
Condoling with the family, the former President noted that HID Awolowo enjoyed a rare privilege by living extra 29 years, when compared to the biblical prescription of three scores and 10.
He further described her as a rare mother, whose milk of kindness, milk of encouragement, milk of advice Nigerians still need.
He said, “My wife and I are not mourning because Mama has passed on. For me, we believe that it’s a rare privilege to add extra 29 years to the biblical three scores and 10; it’s not easy.
“Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have been mourning but Mama was a rare mother. She was a woman of virtue described in the Bible and she was a mother to all of us.
“A mother that her milk of kindness we still need, her milk of encouragement we still need, her milk of advice we still need and today she’s no more with us.
“We, just like her immediate children, and indeed this country, have missed her. Within this period, my wife and I have been hiding; we don’t even go out. We thought we’ll be hiding for at least 12 months.
“But in this particular case, we cannot hide. So, we have come for the condolence and to encourage our brothers and sisters that we are together. God brought her for all of us. She just had to be the direct mother of a few but she was a mother to all. We shall mourn more than even the direct children would.”
A former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, described the deceased as a “truly noble lady who contributed exceedingly to Nigeria’s independence by providing inestimable support to one of the countries’ founding fathers.”
He added that in later years after independence, she became a huge source of inspiration to many national leaders.
The National Chairman, All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, described her as “a legend, an Iroko and a lighthouse to all Nigerians.”
Also, the Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Tokunbo Olopade, who represented the state judiciary, described Mama HID Awolowo as a good mother not only to her biological children, and a highly principled woman

cameroonian troops kill 17 boko haram militants
At least 17 fighters from the Nigerian Islamic extremist group Boko Haram have died in clashes with Cameroon troops in the border town of Amchide, informed sources said Tuesday.
In the nearby village of Gouzoudou meanwhile two women carried out a botched suicide attack, injuring two farmers.
“Fifteen Boko Haram (fighters) were killed Tuesday and several others injured,” a source close to regional authorities told AFP after the clash.
Two further members of the group, which is affiliated to Islamic State, died in a Monday night confrontation with soldiers, the source added, saying the army did not incur any casualties.
A security source who did not wish to be identified indicated that “Boko Haram made an incursion into Amchide yesterday” but were pushed back by Cameroonian troops.
The source added they returned Tuesday but were likewise repulsed.
Amchide is just over the border from the Nigerian city of Banki, which has been occupied for around a year by Boko Haram and which Nigerian troops are preparing to retake, according to Cameroonian sources.
At the entrance to Gouzoudou village, which is also located in Cameroon’s far north, two female suicide bombers blew themselves up, a security source told AFP.
“The two suicide attackers appeared to have been aiming to blow themselves up on Monday, which is market day in the village, but it was guarded by the security forces,” a source close to the authorities said.
The two women hid and carried out the attack at dawn Tuesday.
“Two people who were on their way to the fields were wounded,” the source added.
More than 100 people have been killed in a total of 13 suicide attacks by Boko Haram in Cameroon’s far north since July.
Troops from both Nigeria and Cameroon belong to a multinational regional joint task also comprising forces from Benin, Chad and Niger tasked with driving back Boko Haram as it seeks to spread its sphere of influence.
The extremists have killed around 15,000 people in a six-year insurgency which has left more than two million homeless.

Chelsea doctor quits after Mourinho dispute
Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro has left the club, six weeks on from her highly-publicised dispute with manager Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho had called the club’s medical staff “impulsive and naive” for entering the pitch late on in the opening day 2-2 draw with Swansea.
Carneiro and physio Jon Fearn treated Eden Hazard with minutes remaining of the game, leaving the Blues temporarily down to 10 men.
Carneiro was subsequently removed from her position on the Chelsea bench during matches and told to instead work with the players at the Cobham training ground.
But the doctor is believed to have stayed away from the club since the incident on August 8 and posted a message of thanks to well wishers on Facebook two days after the game.
The Football Association are also reviewing complaints that Mourinho used abusive or sexist language towards Carneiro.

In a statement to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, on Wednesday, the governor said government was taking all steps to protect its citizens.

The decision, the governor said was the outcome of the state’s Security Council Meeting held on Tuesday, after an exhaustive deliberation on the general security situation in the state.

entertainment industry is a viable avenue for job creation -AMBODE
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday said the state government will explore the potential that abounds in the entertainment and arts industry as a viable platform to create jobs for the teeming youths in the state.
The governor spoke when some members of cast and crew of ’93 Days’, a film which chronicles how Lagos was able to effectively contain the Ebola Virus Disease last year, paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.
He assured the team, led by veteran Hollywood actor, Mr. Danny Glover, that his government would give the necessary support to project the ideals of the film, stressing that the collective feat, which was recorded during the Ebola outbreak, would remain a milestone in the history of the state.
Ambode added, “Clearly, what you have done to join hands with our people in Nollywood is to celebrate one of the major successes of Lagos State.
“Our government will support this project. No story can be told better than in graphic form, and once you are turning this story to a movie, it means that every other part of achievement that we can put together, it’s going to be something historic. It’s happening for the very first time, apart from the fact that it is showing the way government has been able to respond to issues that relate to the society, we are also showcasing what Lagos stands for.”
The governor, while appreciating the crew for deeming it fit to use the film to retell the Ebola success story in Lagos, also seized the opportunity to name Glover as Brand Ambassador for Lagos.
He said the actor’s wealth of experience would be of immense benefit to the entertainment industry in the state.
“I can say that this is a platform to rebrand Lagos and for that reason, we will support this film and everything that has to do with it.
“Like I said, we would be looking forward to the premiere and I’ve told Danny that he has to be part of it and bring his experience and social-capital into it and he will be coming with other world class actors to do that. We will join in promoting this also,” Ambode stated.

A.P.C seeks more support for buhari
The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday appealed to Nigerians to continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari in the daunting task of steering the country to peace, security and prosperity.
This is contained in a statement issued in Lagos by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, to felicitate with all Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid el-Kabir.
The party also commended Nigerians for their sacrifices towards ensuring the emergence of a better Nigeria and noted that the sacrifice was the core lesson of Eid el-Kabir.
”Being the first Eid el-Kabir to be celebrated since the change train arrived in our country, we thank all our compatriots for their support and personal sacrifices.
”In particular, we commend our gallant soldiers, many of whom have paid the supreme sacrifice, for continuing to stand up for the unity and cohesion of our dear country.
”We assure them of our unqualified support as they remain in battle, even during this moment of celebration, to ensure our safety and security and to crush the terrorists who have killed and maimed many innocent citizens,” it said.
The statement said the party prayed that the sacrifices of Nigerians would be accepted just as Allah accepted the sacrifice of Ibrahim when he totally surrendered to the will of God by his willingness to sacrifice his son.
”May God make our country a proud member of the comity of nations again, with an economy that grows for the benefit of all, so safe and secure that all can live a better life and reach the zenith of their chosen careers,” it stated.

MIMIKO advocates self examination
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has urged Muslims in the country to use the period of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to reflect on their contributions as individuals to the Project Nigeria, asking the citizens to do more towards making the project work.
In his message message marking the Islamic ceremony by the State’s Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, on Wednesday, Mimiko said the season called for steadfastness and commitment towards uplifting the nation.
He noted that the nation, at this time, needed the cooperation of all Nigerians to make things work. While congratulating Muslims on the Sallah festivities, the governor urged all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of tolerance, love and good neighbourliness among themselves.
He said it was only by doing this that they would live up to the expectations of God.
Mimiko noted that the current challenges facing the nation, arising from the global economic meltdown, were not insurmountable with collaborative efforts while the people lived in peace and harmony and tolerating their differences.
Promising more dividends of democracy for the people of the state, the governor also thanked them for their cooperation and support for government’s programmes.

Important Things You Should Know As the Deadline For BVN draws near
By now, most people know about the Bank Verification Number, commonly referred to as BVN. The BVN scheme is the registration of customers in the financial system using biometric technology.
Biometric technology involves the process of recording a person’s unique physical traits - such as their fingerprints and facial features.
This record can then be used to correctly identify the person afterwards. Once a person’s biometrics have been properly captured, the person is given a Bank Verification Number (BVN).
The BVN was introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria to strengthen security within the banking system and reduce fraud the incidence of fraud in the system. Essentially, fraud is reduced because no two person have the same biometric information - each person has his own unique fingerprint or facial features for example. As a result, banks can always check the features of a person doing a transaction to see if those features match the record which they have. In doing this, banks could ensure that they are dealing with the right person.
All bank customers in Nigeria are required to register or enroll for a BVN. To do this, you will need to visit any of your bank’s branches. The Bank Verification Number which is given to a person will apply to that same person for ANY bank in Nigeria; this means that you will have one number which you will use for all banks. So apart from preventing fraud on customers’ accounts, BVN will help the banking system to fish out customers who have been blacklisted by one bank and who run off to another bank.
Because the BVN captures physical features, it is also very helpful for people who cannot read and write, thereby making sure that everyone is included in the financial system.
The Central Bank of Nigeria has given different dates by which different levels of customers must have a BVN. ALL bank customers are however expected to have their BVN by October 2015.
To avoid the long queues, don’t wait till October 31, 2015 to get your BVN

Waka flocka gets backlash after his comment on transgenders
After going on a New York radio show and criticizing Caitlyn Jenner’s lifestyle, rap singer Waka Flocka Flame squared up on his critics and clarified some things.
In the interview on Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club” Friday, the entertainer said that today’s women and men aren’t encouraged to act in their traditional roles:
“They’re not marketing young families and husbands and wives anymore. They’re marketing young girls and transgenders. They’re marketing evil.”
He said they’re being told to defy God:
“I ain’t saying nothing against Bruce Jenner, you following me? You are who you are when God made you, not who you became after he did. That’s how I just feel. You’re rebuking God, man. God ain’t put them feelings in you; that’s the devil playing tricks on your mind. That’s a test from God. If you can’t outbeat that one task, you believe that, then you’ll believe everything else and you’re going down that way.”
People Magazine reports the entertainer was so upset by the reaction to his comments, he took to Twitter again to explain why he’s not a homophobic man:

Despite Waka Flocka Flame’s best attempt to tamp down the criticism, people took after the rapper to check his heterosexual privilege:
Perhaps he was referring to “South Park’s” recent portrayal of Jenner:

Bukola Saraki arrives the code of conduct tribunal
Senate President Bukola Saraki has arrived the Code of Conduct Tribunal where he is to answer to a 13 count charge of alleged false declaration of assets while he was governor of Kwara state. He arrived with his deputy, Ike Ekweremaadu and other senators. The tribunal has barred live coverage of the proceedings.
The Trojan Horse and the Prince Of Persia,.by FEMI FANI-KAYODE(must read)
Another interesting piece by two-time former Nigerian minister, Femi Fani-Kayode. Read below...
''Israel will no longer exist in 25 years''- Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei , the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Prince of Persia is a spirit-being that the Holy Bible describes as a ''principality’’. He rules over the geographical space that was once known as Persia but that is now known as Iran. Judging from the words of Ayatollah Khamenei I have little doubt that he is firmly under the grip of this spirit-being.
When he speaks, it is not him that is speaking but rather it is the Prince of Persia that is speaking through him. This contribution is about the folly of trusting such a man and the manifest danger of entering into a nuclear arms deal with him. Permit me to begin with an aside. One of the consequences of the war in Syria and Iraq is the massive inflow of refugees from the Middle East into Europe. It is sad to see millions of people fleeing their homeland and walking half way across the world to escape the savagery of war.
TThe question that arises is this: why have Saudi Arabia and the other Arab Gulf states refused to assist their Muslim and Arab brothers and take them in? Mr. Paul Joseph Watson raised some pertinent points in a contribution to Global Research. He wrote: ‘’While European countries are being lectured about their failure to take in enough refugees, Saudi Arabia – which has taken in precisely zero migrants has 100,000 air conditioned tents that can house over 3 million people sitting empty. The sprawling network of high quality tents are located in the city of Mina, spreading across a 20 square km valley, and are only used for 5 days of the year by Hajj pilgrims.
The tents could provide shelter for almost all of the 4 million Syrian refugees that have been displaced by the country’s civil war. While it refuses to take in any more refugees, Saudi Arabia has offered to build 200 mosques for the 500,000 migrants a year expected to pour into Germany. While Europe is being burdened by potentially millions of people who don’t share the same culture or religion as the host population, Gulf Arab states refuse to pull their weight, resolving only to throw money at the problem’’. Mr. Watsons’ observations are legitimate. I support the assertion that the west should take in as many Arab refugees as possible on humanitarian grounds. However there must be a moment of pause whilst we consider the following questions. Is it possible that some of those that have fled to Europe are actually ISIS members who are using this opportunity to plant themselves in the very heart of western civilization where they can wreak havoc? Is there any truth in the Russian narrative that the massive exodus of Arab refugees into Europe today is nothing short of a "Trojan horse" invasion? Again is it conceivable that the refusal of the Saudis to receive any of the refugees is borne out of the fact that the quickest way to change the racial and religious identity of Europe and to bring greater Arab and Islamic influence to bear on western culture and civilization is the mass migration of millions of Muslim refugees into Europe? This suspicion is reinforced by the fact that instead of taking in the refugees the Saudi authorities have instead offered to build 200 mosques in Germany in order to cater for the migrants that seek refuge there. Do those voices in Europe that have called for caution in receiving the refugees have a point? That remains to be seen. This brings us to the very heart of this contribution and begs for an answer to the following question. If such an influx of refugees into Europe has been triggered off by what is essentially a Middle Eastern proxy war between the U.S.A and Saudi Arabia on the one hand and Russia and Iran on the other, can one possibly imagine the sheer carnage and massive influx that a war between Iran and Israel would cause? What is happening today would be child's play when one considers that scenario. Yet those that support the Iran nuclear arms deal fail to appreciate the fact that strengthening Iran by lifting sanctions and putting hundreds of billions of dollars in the Iranian governments’ coffers takes us one step closer to such a conflict. Until Iran renounces its intention of spreading global jihad and until the clerics that rule that country stop their provocative rhetoric towards Israel there can never be peace. The only language that terror understands is an equal dose of terror. The policy of appeasement which the Iran nuclear deal represents is the worst thing that could have happened and those that have put it in place will have cause to deeply regret it. The greatest mistake that President Obama has made is to trust Iran. This is a country whose leaders have continuously referred to America as the ‘’great Satan’’ and Israel as the ‘’little Satan’’. This is a country whose Supreme Leader opens political rallies by chanting ‘’death to America’’.
This is a country whose former President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said that Israel would be ‘’wiped off the face of the earth’’. This is a country whose leaders believe in the coming of the great muslim ''Mahdi''- the so-called "Guided One" whose coming, according to shia eschatology and prophecy, "will be heralded by the raising of a black flag in Kurasan".
This is a country whose leaders fully espouse the concept of global jihad and whose constitution specifically calls for the destruction of America and Israel. By this deal President Obama has given the Iranian government immense power and a new lease of life. This is a government that is perverse in all its ways and that presides over the affairs of a vicious and unrelenting theocratic state. This is a government that is led by a handful of misguided religious fanatics whose objective is to spread radical Islam throughout the world.
This is a government that has taken away the basic freedoms of its' own people and held them in bondage for the last 36 years. This is a government that exports blood, death and terror by funding terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Mehdi Army and many others throughout the world. Given all this can anyone legitimately dispute the words of the former Foreign Minister of Israel, Mr. Avigdor Lieberman, who described the nuclear deal as ''a surrender to terror''? On his part the Defence Minister of Israel, Mr. Moshe Yaalon, said it is a deal that was built on Iran's ''lies and deceit''. He went further by describing the agreement as ''a tragedy for all who aspire for regional stability and who fear a nuclear Iran''. Not one to be left out of the fray, the Prime Minister of Israel, Mr. Binyamin Netanyahu, called the deal a "historic mistake".
Most instructive of all was the contribution of Israel's Education Minister, Mr. Naftali Bennet, who warned that: ''The history books have been re-written again today and this period will be deemed particularly grave and dangerous''. He said, ''western citizens who get up for another day at work or school are not aware of the fact that about half a trillion dollars has been transferred to the hands of a terrorist superpower, the most dangerous country in the world, who has promised the destruction of nations and peoples.
Today it may be us, tomorrow it may reach every country in the form of suitcase bombs in London or New York. Israel has done everything possible to warn of danger and in the end it will follow its own interest and will do whatever it takes to defend itself'' (See Peter Beaumonts’ article in the UK's, Guardian Newspaper, 14th July 2015).
These men have spoken nothing but the truth and the world would do well to listen. Sadly that does not appear to be happening because the American government has been sold a dummy and they have taken the full plunge.
I have always viewed Obama's policies in the Middle East and North Africa with suspicion. In my view he is the greatest friend that the radical jihadists have ever had in the White House and he has done more for their cause than any other American President.
His support for the Iran nuclear deal confirms this. Permit me to conclude this contribution with a word to Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the man who said that Israel will ''no longer exist’’ in 25 years: hell will freeze over before Israel ever goes down. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu responded to him in an equally eloquent manner by saying, "anyone who attacks the State of Israel will pay with his life".
A word is enough for the wise. The day that Iran attacks Israel will be the day that Iran would have signed its own death warrant. They will be crushed beyond recognition and redemption.

words from the senate president himself (must read)
"AREN’T you amused at this federal agency called Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB)? And the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for that matter? These two supposed anti-graft agencies can no longer hide the fact that they have become willing tools in the hands of politicians seeking to settle scores and consolidate their strong arm hold on power.
The EFCC grabbed Mrs. Toyin Saraki who ceased to be a governor’s wife EIGHT years ago! This happened a couple of days after her husband, Dr. Bukola Saraki, defied the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and emerged as the head of the eighth National Assembly in cahoots with senators from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP); a political party which he used to govern Kwara State for eight years and later joined in flushing out of power. APC’s supreme leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, and his cat’s paw from the South West, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, felt humiliated and swore to settle his hash.
Bukola Saraki
Tinubu’s newspapers and electronic media, including his online social media franchises, were mobilised to spew vitriol on Saraki and his House of Representatives neighbour, Speaker Yakubu Dogara. Recently, the anti-Dogara invectives have been toned down since he made his expensive “burnt sacrifice” of jettisoning his principled federal character formula for the sharing of House principal offices. He appeased Tinubu and Buhari by conceding the Majority Leader position to Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Saraki felt he could overlook or ignore Tinubu’s whining. After all, he too was a governor and the political godfather of his own state, Kwara, just as Tinubu was of Lagos. He even dismissed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as a “mere commissioner”. Indeed, Osinbajo was a commissioner in Tinubu’s cabinet in 2003 when he (Saraki) was Governor of Kwara State. Saraki, at a point, made feeble but ineffective efforts to raise his own media counter-forces.
Saraki did not reckon with the fact that Tinubu was not alone in the fight to bring him down. He did not expect President Buhari to be this serious in siding with Tinubu. After all, the president had pledged to work with whoever emerged as the leaders of the National Assembly. Buhari, who is reputed to be a man of his words, was not expected to turn around and lead the war to destroy Saraki.
Buhari started by simply ignoring Saraki and Dogara. Till date, the president has refused to meet with Saraki even perfunctorily. Normally, you would expect the president to crave the support of the leader of the National Assembly to make his own work easier. Buhari simply shut out Saraki.
Now comes the Code of Conduct Bureau into the picture. The CCB dives into its dust-covered archives and unearths a tatty, twelve year-old security document: the assets declaration of Saraki when he assumed office as Kwara Governor. CCB says it contains “false” declaration, and has dragged Saraki to court. Saraki says it is all politics, and he would meet his political enemies in court. Fine. Let the fight begin. I am sitting pretty at the front row of ringside with a cold bottle of zobo drink.
But wait, where was the CCB all these years after Saraki made this “false” declaration? I agree, crime does not rot. It can be acted upon any time. But in this case, a matter that was never mentioned by the CCB or any other “anti-graft” body has now become the “banana peel” that could railroad Saraki out of office and probably into Buhari’s jail, if he does not take care.
Before I go on, let me remind us of what this Code of Conduct Bureau once did which made me wonder what manner of “anti-graft body” it is. When on June 29th 2007, the late President Umaru Yar’ Adua decided to make his comprehensively packaged assets declaration public (unlike Buhari’s shallow declaration which did not allow us to know his real worth), this same CCB protested! It advised President Yar’ Adua that though his gesture was “noble”, publishing his assets would “put pressure on other office holders to do the same”!
How can a genuine anti-graft body say no to a measure that will facilitate the fight against corruption? Why protest against a “noble gesture”? I expected the CCB to call on other public office holders to emulate President Yar’ Adua but CCB chose to go in the opposite direction. We pointed out discrepancies and unwholesomeness in Buhari’s declared assets. Why has the CCB not said anything about it? Or does the CBB exist only to protect the interests of a ruling president and his favoured public office holders? Why is Saraki the only politician on trial for alleged false declaration?
Saraki is really in soup. His enemies have him by the balls. By the time he has been photographed and videoed in the dock as a “big catch” in Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade a number of times, the resolve of his supporters among the senators will be sorely tested. They would increasingly be painted by Buhari and Tinubu’s media, supporters, lawyers, online busybodies, civil society groups and opinion leaders as supporters of corruption. How long can they really hold out? Buhari and Tinubu have an enormous array of options against Saraki, and their case is helped by easy gullibility of the Nigerian public who only get to know they’ve been played after the game is over.
Saraki is cooking in his own stew. He was one of those who ganged up and brought down the PDP and former President Goodluck Jonathan. The former “new” PDP promoters now nestling in Buhari/Tinubu’s APC will eventually be systematically rendered irrelevant, not just in the party but also back home where they now hold sway. A few of them could end up in jail, and the rest will be forced to line up behind Buhari and his erstwhile “long-suffering” disciples who are now indisputably in power.
Our elders advised us, long ago, to be careful about dressing up masquerades because they could turn their canes on us. Nicolo Machiavelli made it clear that those who support princes to gain ascendancy are often the first group of people he eliminates in order to tighten his hold on power. Former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, demonstrated his coldblooded Machiavellism when he calmly signed the execution warrant of Major General Mamman Vatsa, his childhood friend, schoolmate and fellow anti-Buhari coup plotter.
Buhari realised his ambition to become the second military ruler to govern Nigeria as an elected president through the instrumentality of two major impetuses: the Buhari/Tinubu alliance for the formation of the APC merger, and the movement of the rebel “new” PDP group into the APC. Without either of these events, Buhari would never have emerged. Saraki’s bum is being roasted because he was the first to show his hand against the president’s political interests. He is being shown who’s the boss around here.
Since Buhari assumed power, he has totally turned his back on the “new” PDP. He has never offered them anything yet. Buhari has only marginally carried Tinubu along. It is quite possible that by the time he has consolidated, Tinubu might also be sidelined with most of his erstwhile disciples assimilated by Buhari’s erstwhile “long suffering” acolytes in a “new” APC.
The CCB, EFCC, ICPC, NSA, DSS, INEC and the lot, which are controlled by Buhari’s “long suffering” disciples or made to “tow the line” are formidable agents of state which Buhari has primed for his power consolidation.
Politicians who worked for “change” have gotten it. We will soon see if it was the change they bargained for.
AREN’T you amused at this federal agency called Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB)? And the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for that matter?
We will soon see if it was the change they bargained for."

Politicians who worked for “change” have gotten it. We will soon see if it was the change they bargained for.
AREN’T you amused at this federal agency called Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB)? And the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for that matter? These two supposed anti-graft agencies can no longer hide the fact that they have become willing tools in the hands of politicians seeking to settle scores and consolidate their strong arm hold on power.
